We have full measuring guides for all of our products, which guide you through each step of the way. Our Australian customers can find the curtain measuring guide here, and our New Zealand customers can find it here.
How to measure for a face-fit curtain?
- Measure the desired width and height following our measuring guide.
- For the width, measure at the top where the track will be installed.
- For the height, measure three drops: left, middle, and right. Use the smallest measurement.
- Note: Subtract approximately 10mm from the smallest drop to ensure the curtain or sheers hover just above the floor.
How to measure for a recess-fit curtain?
- Measure the desired width and height following our measuring guide.
- For the width, measure at the top where the track will be installed.
- For the height, measure three drops: left, middle, and right. Use the smallest measurement.
- Note: Do not subtract any measurements, as we will take off 5mm from the width and 10mm from the drop to give you some leeway for a perfect fit.
What should I add to the width and height from the architraves, and why?
When measuring for your curtains, the width and height extensions from the architraves or edge of the window are largely based on personal preference and the style of curtains you choose. However, here are our general recommendations:
-
Width: We suggest extending the curtain width by 200mm to 350mm beyond the window or door recess. This helps maximise the visible window area when the curtains are open, giving you more light and an expansive view, as the curtains will stack covering the wall, rather than the window opening. How much space you leave will depend on the type of curtains and fabric you choose. Heavier curtains with lining, such as Double Pinch Pleat or Pencil Pleat, may require more space, while sheers will take up less space. For S-Fold or Eyelet curtains, which have minimalist folds, less space is needed.
-
Height: For a more elegant look, we recommend installing the curtains anywhere from 100mm above the window frame and upwards, perhaps even extending up to the cornice or ceiling height, depending on your desired aesthetic. This creates the illusion of height and a more polished finish. Be sure to account for nearby obstructions (e.g., furniture or light fixtures) that may impact the curtain's drop.
If you are ordering S-Fold tracks, you have the flexibility to install them face-fit (on the wall) or top-fix (on the ceiling or bulkhead), allowing you to adapt to your space and design needs.

What is the minimum and maximum width and drop you offer on curtains?
- Maximum Width: 5,000mm
- Maximum Drop: 3,500mm
- Minimum Width: 700mm
- Minimum Drop: 700mm
If you require widths longer than this, have a chat with our customer service team about how you might be able to install tracks side by side.
What is a "return" on a curtain? Do you offer this?
A "return" refers to the distance between the front of the curtain (where it attaches to the track) and the wall, where the curtain's bracket is fixed. We offer a standard 50mm return on each end of our Double Pinch Pleat, S-Fold, and Eyelet curtains.
Do you allow for creepage on your curtain widths?
Yes, we allow for approximately 30mm of creepage per curtain. This ensures that your curtains fit perfectly and allows for any natural fabric shift during use.
I'm interested in purchasing a single curtain larger than your maximum width. Can this be manufactured and if so, how can I order this?
Yes, we can definitely manufacture a single curtain with a width longer than our 5000mm maximum. We will be able to provide a quote for this if you contact our customer service team directly. For example if you wanted to order a width of 8390mm, we would simply order 2 x 4194mm widths and inform the workroom that you require a single curtain at 8390mm when the order goes into production. There is no extra cost to you for this.
Where should I measure from if installing s-fold curtains between two walls (ceiling mount with a cornice finish)?
Measure the space between your cornices on the ceiling and order your curtains as a recess fit. We will automatically deduct 5mm from the width and 10mm from the drop to allow for a smooth installation.
Please note: Depending on the depth of your cornice, a small gap may be visible at each end of the curtain track. If you prefer full wall-to-wall coverage, consider measuring below the cornice and opting for a face mount instead to avoid this gap.
To ensure accuracy:
- Measure the width at the top where the track will be installed.
- Measure the drop in three places (left, middle, and right) and use the smallest measurement.
- Order as a recess fit for ceiling mounting.
